Fairway Christian Church was conceived in the minds of the ministers of four Lake County congregations. In the summer of 1998 they invited Bill Twaddell to lead the new endeavor as minister.
Weekly meetings were begun in December of 1998. In February 1999, the Lord led these faith-walking folks to purchase this 8.5 acre tract of land from the Villages. The first worship service was held in the La Hacienda Center on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1999 with 157 in attendance. Services later moved to the Savannah Center in October of 2001. The congregation moved into its first church building on December 1, 2002.
From the beginning Fairway has enjoyed consistent growth. as new members were added, worship attendance climbed from 277 in 2005 to 519 in 2010. On April 1, 2010, Bill Twaddell retired and passed the ministry over to Preaching Minister, Mark Fessler.
In 2012 the worship attendance averaged 741 in 5 worship services. Fairway moved into its present worship center in February 2013, and on Easter Sunday we welcomed 1,363 to worship. Renovation of our existing building into a Fellowship Hall, new Kitchen and classrooms was completed in 2014.
