Robert “Bob” Harris

ASSOCIATE MINISTER OF PASTORAL CARE

Bob is a Pastoral Counselor and Associate Minister of Pastoral Care. As a Minister and Pastoral Counselor, he has witness much despair, sadness, and pain over the years. He has also seen the loving grace and healing power of The Holy Spirit.

Bob was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in 2010 and served six years as a Pastoral Counselor and Care Ministry Director at Cedar Creek Church in Aiken, SC. He considers his second career and his current work as a servant of God to be proof that we spend a lifetime being shaped by God to do the work He sent us here to do. (Jeremiah 29:11) “For I know the plans I have for you…..”

Bob was born in central Virginia and spent most of his early years there. He and Kathy were high school sweethearts and will be married 45 years in November. They have two married sons, five granddaughters and one grandson. Bob and Kathy moved to the Villages in June 2016 and discovered Fairway Christian Church. They became members in January 2017. Both Bob and Kathy enjoy our church services and both have felt inspired, welcomed and loved here at Fairway.

Bob received his undergraduate and master’s degree in business which served him well in his first career. He received a second master’s degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with a concentration in Pastoral Counseling.

A Biblical foundation.

While help and guidance is offered from a variety of therapeutic models, all are integrated with a world-view grounded in the authoritative Word of God. The beginning point is the understanding that we all have been created as image-bearers of God, and in spite of our sin, each of use is endowed with unique with individuality, dignity, worth, and beauty. Operating from such a framework, possible solutions are explored and applied according to the needs of each client.

A safe place.

In order for true healing to take place, one must also feel safe and trusting enough to become vulnerable with another person. Such a relationship invites people to then confront, discuss, and deal with the issues and problems that motivate them to seek help. it is our goal to provide active listening, empathy, insight, understanding, and accountability that will promote the healing people desire in their lives. Our individual counseling rooms offer safe and comfortable surroundings where your privacy will be respected.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28, NIV

Why do we do this? Because love compels us.

The intent of this ministry is not to replace or minimize the pastoral care church members receive from their church staff. But sometimes the traumas, stresses, and problems of life overwhelm us to the point that we desire help from someone professionally trained in specific problem areas. If you are experiencing such feelings and desire the assistance of a Pastoral Counselor who can offer professional help balanced with the love of Christ we invite you to call.

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:11, 12 NIV
